So, I have to share this with all you since were all about being frugal and living smart and cheap. I know most of you have probably noticed more and more people are getting into Pinterest just like my husband and I are. Well my husband has been getting the handyman itch lately and I like it as long as he keeps it very cheap and I get to use the projects to decorate the house! This is one of his latest crafty ideas and it was very simple and easy, so much so that we want to share it so you maybe able to use this in your home.
1st he started with a round glass flower vase (we already had this at home, but you can get these pretty cheap, I think the Dollar Store might even carry them):
2nd he borrowed some of our daughters silly bands, since we were out of rubber bands! (Which is really what you need to use, the silly bands left the lines kind of wavy.) He wrapped the silly bands around the vase in various locations.
3rd he used Satin White spray paint and painted the entire vase, and used a cup in the top of the vase to make sure the paint didn’t get on the inside of the vase.
Last, but not least, he took the rubber bands off and now we have a very unique and beautiful candle vase! (I have to say that it looks way better in person. The picture doesn’t do it justice)!
My husband had a total of about 30 mins from start to finish on this project and we were able to reuse an old flower vase to be able add a little extra flair to the mantle in our living room. It’s so easy and simple that you can do it, and also you can wrap the rubber bands as high or as low on the vase to help add or dim the candle the way you want it!
If you have the vase and rubberbands, you only have to buy the spray paint. Total: $3!
