I just wanted to take a few minutes to say thank you for all of you who have served or who are currently serving. If you’re a follower of this blog, then you know that we are huge supporters of military personnel and their families.
My brother-in-law is currently Active in the Coast Guard. I know that serving our country is not always easy for those serving or for their families. They are thousands of miles away stationed in Kodiak, AK. We haven’t seen him, my sister-in-law, or my 2 nieces for almost 2 years now. My sis-in-law is expecting their 3rd little girl and we are so excited! I know that it’s difficult for them to be away from their families as it is for us to not have them here. But, they have a huge support system there with their friends on base there. Which makes being away a lot easier. Especially when my brother-in-law has to be away sometimes weeks at a time, she has great friends that help out if ever needed! So, thank you to my brother and sister-in-law for your sacrifice during this time. We love you and miss you more than you know.
My father-in-law retired from the U.S. Army. He has traveled all over and has served in many different places. My husband had the opportunity to live in Germany, Italy, Alaska, and several other stateside cities. But, even though they were given the chance to travel and see tons of great places, they too made a sacrafice. They were away from their families for years at a time. Also, as a result of my father-in-law’s service to our country, he incurred several disabilities. But, thankfully he has received help from the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a result, he currently works there helping veterans just like him receive the help they deserve. Thank you to my in-laws for your continued dedication, sacrifice and service.
My uncle served 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He too served in a combat zone incurring several disabilities. That time away from family in a hostile environment definitely took it’s toll on him and my aunt. Thank you to my aunt and uncle for your sacrifice and service.
Last but not least, my husband’s late grandfather served in the U.S. Air Force. He too incurred several minor disabilities during his tour. I have to say that he was a precious man. He was like my own grandpa. He cared for everyone around him and prayed for everyone he met. We truly miss him and he will always have a special place in our hearts!
All of these great men in my family are all men of God. They have served our country with great honor and I feel they are and have shown God’s love through it all. As a result of the huge influence of military in my family I also decided to work for the Department of Veterans Affairs. I love my job because I am able to serve those who have served our country each and every day! Again thank you to my family and to all those who have and are currently serving. Your great sacrifice does not go un-noticed.
